Stormin’ Bob summer shows are starting up

In my last post, I mentioned my first virtual shows of the year (Joyner Elementary in Tupelo, MS). This past Friday, I played my first live show in a looooooong time.

The Oktoc Community Club is the oldest community club in Mississippi. Their unbroken chain (even with the COVID-19 pandemic) of monthly meetings dates back to 1927.

It was my pleasure to be part of history — my boys (at least the two older boys — DJ & Nate) and I visited the Oktoc Community Club. The building itself is an old church/one-room schoolhouse and proved to be a really cool venue. While the crowd was a little bit older than my usual audience, they were as enthusiastic, engaged and curious as the kids I usually play for.

Thanks to Anna Marie Rasberry for the invite, the ladies of the club for the delicious lasagna (how did they know that my boys love lasagna?) & potluck sides, and the wonderful hospitality of all the club members. Of course, my shows are not possible without the help of my trusty roadies — not only do they help with set-up and tear-down, but Nate sang “The 50 States That Rhyme” and led “The Weather Wiggle,” while DJ took the photos in the gallery below.

If your school, library or community group would like to book me this summer, please send along your contact info via my contact page.
